This is a question that almost everyone who has joined a network marketing company has asked themselves. They know that the system works because they see people and hear stories of how this rep made $12,453 in his first 30 days and that rep went from a minimum wage job to millionaire in only 17 months. The truth is that these people exist in every organization they however are the exception, not the rule. Statistics show that approximately 95% of the people who join a network marketing company fail and less than 1% becomes wealthy. I don’t know about you, but I sure want to be part of that 1%. So how do I achieve that?
The answer is one that is simple in theory, but much more difficult in practice. Initially it comes down to one word: attitude. Attitudes are contagious. Everyone has one, but not all are worth catching. To be successful, you must have an attitude that success is inevitable, failure is not an option. Seems simple, right? If it were, that percentage would be much higher, wouldn’t you agree?
Everyone who joins a network marketing company comes in with the right attitude; they are excited about the possibilities and can’t wait until they are financially free. So what happens to the attitude of 95% of these people? The foundation of a successful MLM organization is attitude, but that is only the beginning.
The second key to success is patience a characteristic that many of us are lacking in today’s society of fast food, microwaves, and drive through pharmacies and dry cleaners. Success in network marketing is a marathon, not a sprint. It is a crock pot, not a microwave. So many people come in thinking it is going to happen much faster than it does. In fact, you may see little to no income for the first 3-6 months in many companies. This can be very frustrating to most people. Those that have the patience and persistence to hang in will soon see a snowball effect as their down line begins to grow exponentially.
Success in network marketing also requires diversification. And I don’t mean that you need to be involved in many companies at the same time, which could be disastrous to your longevity in this industry. What I mean is that you need to use several different marketing techniques to grow you business. You should spend time marketing both on and offline. The internet is a very effective way to build your business, but don’t forget about traditional marketing as well. Remember, there were many successful network marketers long before the internet was around.
Lastly, and maybe most importantly, you need to find a mentor; someone who you believe in and who believes in you. You will have plenty of people telling you how you won’t succeed, so find someone you can count on to help keep your attitude positive and provide training and guidance along this journey. It is not an easy one, but in the end will be very rewarding and lucrative if done correctly, not mention it can be a whole lot of fun.
